PS Plus Subscribers Have Until October 7 to Claim One of the Best Games of All Time
PlayStation Plus members only have a few more days to claim several titles, including one of the most beloved games of all time—Stardew Valley. The renowned farming sim is available to PS Plus subscribers until October 7.
Stardew Valley has been going from strength to strength since its early 2016 release. With an OpenCritic average score of 90 and a 99% recommendation rate, it is one of the most critically acclaimed farming sims ever created. As of June 2025, Stardew Valley is also the highest-rated indie game in Steam’s history.
Stardew Valley Is Free on PS Plus for a Few More Days
PlayStation Plus members have been able to claim Stardew Valley since September 2. That promotion is now nearing its end, being set to expire next Tuesday, October 7. Psychonauts 2 and Viewfinder are also available to claim for PS Plus subscribers as part of last month’s freebie lineup. Anyone who hasn’t yet grabbed them can do so via the PS Plus tile on their PlayStation console’s home screen, or by navigating to their individual PS Store listings and selecting “Add to Library.” It’s not necessary to download a game to claim it.

Sony’s free monthly games are offered to subscribers of every PlayStation Plus tier, starting with the entry-level PS Plus Essential. Claiming them during their month-long availability periods will add them to one’s account permanently. However, the PS Plus freebies are tracked separately from game purchases, meaning they require an active subscription to access.
Sony has already announced the PS Plus monthly games for October 2025, which are headlined by Remedy Entertainment’s critically acclaimed survival horror Alan Wake 2. Cocoon, a Geometric Interactive-developed puzzler from 2023, will also be part of next month’s offering, together with Coffee Stain’s unhinged sandbox game Goat Simulator 3. All three will become available to claim as soon as Stardew Valley and the other two titles from the current lineup rotate out on October 7.
Free monthly games on PS Plus are typically announced the week before their release, which historically happens on the first Tuesday of each month. The November lineup is hence expected to be officially confirmed in late October 2025. In the meantime, new PS Plus Extra and Premium titles are due on October 21, and will likely be detailed about six days earlier, based on Sony’s recent communication patterns.
