Marvel Rivals’ Daredevil is Getting Plenty of Skins in Season 4.5, But Not the Ones I Want
Few characters have piqued my interest in terms of who I’d like to see added to the playable character roster in Marvel Rivals. Frankly, I’m astonished by how well NetEase has adapted what is soon to be 43 Marvel characters, who all have fascinating abilities and distinct personalities, to a 6v6 hero shooter. I knew I wanted to be a day-one Marvel Rivals Spider-Man main, despite his kit being difficult to master, because I love the character, for example, but I wasn’t expecting to want to main Squirrel Girl, a character I was fairly unfamiliar with.
As a casual Marvel Rivals player, it’s only natural that my attention span may ebb and flow with each new character that is revealed, and I don’t think there’s been a post-launch character to capture my curiosity as immensely as Daredevil has. Daredevil is a character who always seemed like a no-brainer for Marvel Rivals due to his modern popularity and prolific skin viability, but whom I’ve been wary of seeing adapted due to how complicated it would seem to do so. Ironically, after Daredevil’s gameplay and Season 4.5 roadmap reveals, I’m considerably more vexed about the skins chosen for Daredevil thus far.
Marvel Rivals’ Daredevil Skins Make My Heart Sink
Earlier, NetEase provided a fairly thorough breakdown of its Marvel Rivals Season 4.5 roadmap alongside applicable patch notes. Beyond a mix-and-match-themed Jade Scrolls of K’un-Lun event mini-Battle Pass and a handful of miscellaneous skins peppering October and the beginning of November, there are quite a few Daredevil costumes that Marvel Rivals is introducing to celebrate the character’s arrival:
Marvel Rivals Store Content (October 10)
- Daredevil – Devil 2099 Bundle
- Hulk – Maestro Bundle
- Daredevil – Devil 2099 Emoji Bundle
- Daredevil – Fearless Origin
I’m admittedly a big fan of the ongoing Marvel Rivals 2099 theme, and I suppose it was only a matter of time until Daredevil had his own costume as part of that motif. However, I can’t help but wish that Fearless Origin was a classic suit skin and not a recolor, whether that’s horribly nitpicky or not.
Marvel Rivals Season 4.5 Gold Rank Reward
- Daredevil – Shenloong’s Creed
Because all Gold Rank skin rewards have been recolors, it’s impossible to nitpick about Shenloong’s Creed. In fact, I actually think Shenloong’s Creed is the best-looking skin of the Season 4.5 batch. It’s unmistakably similar to the yellow-and-red Fearless Origin skin, but at least Shenloong’s Creed has a more interesting colorway design variation, and the satisfaction of earning Shenloong’s Creed for a Gold Rank will undeniably be greater than simply purchasing Fearless Origin.
Marvel Rivals Disney+ Daredevil Skin (October 10)
- “Players can unlock a complimentary Disney+ inspired Daredevil costume, offered exclusively for a limited time from October 10, 2025, to January 8, 2026.”
This official Disney+ Daredevil recolor is what concerns me most. At first glance, it could be easy to assume that this recolor would at least attempt to emulate the suit that Charlie Cox’s Matthew Murdock wears as Daredevil in the Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again. Bewilderingly, though, it appears as if it is going to manifest as a blue recolor intended to emulate the Disney+ theme/branding/logo instead.
To be fair, Marvel Rivals has no obligation to produce a bunch of authentic Daredevil skins, such as any of the fantastic costumes illustrated by Marco Checchetto in his and Chip Zdarsky’s Daredevil comic book run, as soon as possible. It took until Season 3 in July for Spider-Man to receive a Symbiote skin, for instance, and the absence of legitimate comic book costumes for Daredevil will make my heart grow fonder, I’m sure.
